The minimalistic lifestyle has been trending over the internet for quite a few years now. Minimalism as a word is easy to interpret, so if you have not heard it before or you do not know what it is about, then the word can give you a slight idea about its meaning, which is being minimal. According to the definition mentioned on the webpage of ‘The Minimalists’, it says, “Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favor of focusing on what’s important — so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.” This shows that being a minimalist does not mean to confine yourself into a shell of nothingness, or to become a person with lesser things than you need. It is a freedom in a way that allows you to live a life with less burden on yourself.
We are often surrounded by things that we actually do not need, but we keep on stuffing our houses, our closets, cutlery and much more. At some point in life, all these things do become a burden on us, so we start feeling worried about them. At long last, we find ourselves giving those things away. Minimalism helps to “Create more, consume less”. Once you are habitual to a minimalistic lifestyle, you will love it and there is no way that you would want to become an excessive person again. It is helpful in many ways. We become aware of how much we waste or stuff normally. Adult Americans throw away more than 68 pounds of clothing every year (US National Library of Medicine cites the EPA Office of Solid Waste).
Minimalism does not mean to just adopt a new lifestyle all of a sudden. It is more of a mindset. Once you become willing to free yourself from excess and useless burdens, then you gradually start changing your habits. A minimalistic mindset is free from the worries of de-cluttering the house or the worry about settling the furniture or closet. It makes you realize what your own priorities are in life. The things or relationships that really matter to you, will be easier to identify. It is not focused on having fewer things and limiting yourself to the point where you are not comfortable. It revolves around your comfort zone. Wherever your heart and mind finds calmness, you go with that lifestyle.
It is not a fashion or a trend that you will opt for being in the spotlight. It is something that you choose for your life. There are countless benefits that you will realize once you get ahold of it. Your life will become easier, you will consume less and so you will spend less, you can save money, you can have more time for yourself, house chores will be lesser than before and you will become a happy person internally. This serenity and sense of freedom is what minimalism is about. If you are person who love simple things and lives with all that is really important to you, than you are already a minimalist.
Cutting long story short, minimalistic lifestyle can be an ideal lifestyle of many people, who do not realize it yet. Because who would not want to live a life of freedom, away from worries of things or people that are not needed in your life. Less wastage, more relaxation, and on top of that all you have or all that you do in a minimalistic lifestyle is what that is actually your own priority. This will make you happier and optimistic in all ways.
